Chinua Achebe
Chinua Achebe was born on November. 15, 1930 in Ogidi, Nigeria. He was born to the son of Isaiah Okafor Achebe, a teacher in a missionary school, and Janet Ileogbunam. Both his parents were Christian. His full name is Albert Chinualumogo Achebe. Achebe is considered one of the most original literary artist writing in English. He is also one of the most important living African writers. When he was young, he started to learn english. When he got older he studied literature and medicine at the University of Ibadan. After graduating he started to work for the Nigerian Broadcasting Company in Lagos. One of his finest work in literacy is his book ' Things Fall Apart ' written in 1958.. Also his first novel ever. After it was published it got translated into 45 different languages, and was sold eight million copies world wide. Achebe also wrote : ' No Longer At Ease ' ( 1960 ) , ' Arrow Of God ' ( 1964 ) , ' A Man Of The People '. ( 1966 ) and ' Anthills Of The Savannah ( 1987 ). Achebe has also written collections of short stories, poetry, and several other books for juvenile reader. Currently, he is married and has four children while living in the US holding a teaching position at Bard College.
